Background Attack Aftermath Evidence Misinformation Analysis Memorial

Donald Rumsfeld

Cover Stories of the People in Charge

Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld was number two in the United States military command structure. He was working in the east side of the Pentagon on the morning of September 11th. Rumsfeld told Larry King on the December 5th talk show that he knew nothing about the World Trade Center attack until 15 minutes before the Pentagon was hit, and even then wasn't told that a plane was headed for the Pentagon. 1

The Pentagon is the headquarters of the U.S. military, with the most advanced communications links to the NORAD control center at Cheyenne Mountain. We are supposed to believe that no one bothered to tell him that four jetliners had been hijacked, and two of them flown into the Twin Towers.
