Pentagon Attack Eyewitnesses

Surviving Evidence of the September 11th Pentagon Attack

pentagon from above
Lamp poles were knocked down on the cloverleaf overpass of the highway just west of the Pentagon, on which traffic was stalled at the time of the attack.

The Pentagon is surrounded by heavily populated areas, particularly to the west and southwest, the direction from which an aircraft was observed approaching the building in the moments before the crash on September 11th, 2001. Moreover, traffic was at a near standstill on the highway adjacent to the targeted west wall prior to the attack. Therefore numerous people outside the building, as well as inside it, witnessed the attack. The recollections of scores of witnesses to the attack have appeared in press reports, and it is likely that several times that many people witnessed some part of the attack.

Eyewitness Compilations

911Research archives two collections of Pentagon eyewitness accounts compiled by other individuals from press reports and correspondence:

Both collections contain excerpts from articles whose URLs are provided. Because there are so many accounts, 911Research has not thoroughly checked the excerpts against the sources to verify that each excerpt preserves the meaning apparent in its source. Readers are invited to do so and report any discrepancies to us. (See our contact information.)

Topical Excerpts

Shorter excerpts from Bart's collection are organized here into the following themes.

The evidence in these compilations is used to support some of the conclusions in our analysis of the Pentagon strike.
