Post 9/11/01 Attacks on Nations
In the immediate aftermath of September 11th, the Bush Administration began deployments for an attack on Afghanistan for the stated purpose of ousting the Taliban government, whom it accused of harboring al Qaeda terrorists. Originally dubbed "Operation Infinite Justice", the name was changed to "Operation Enduring Freedom" on September 21, when war planners discovered that the former name insulted Muslim sensibilities.
The air attack on Afghanistan began on October 7. 1
